Events Application

The Events Application provides an easy-to-use self-service event analysis tool. It helps users to investigate Distributed Control System (DCS) event occurrences and event distributions from the office environment and from mobile devices. Events Application with its all common services and modules makes ABB Ability Manufacturing Operations Management System an ISA-95 Level 3 plant data access and information system which ties any plant data from disparate data sources into one single information infrastructure.

Events Application was developed as a Desktop Application. Over the years the design was outdated and switching from the desktop application to the web-based version under the ABB Ability™ Manufacturing Operations Management was a need.

My role was in the project, Conducting extensive user research and competitive analysis to ensure that the web version covers all the necessary features available in the market and also introducing possible additional features that can differentiate the Events Application from the competitors.

Also, I took an active part in redesigning the application. I’ve structured and organized the layout of the application by creating information architecture. I’ve prepared wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and clickable prototypes.

After the app was launched ABB introduced a new design system for all applications to which I made a significant contribution. This system standardized the design across all applications and introduced a design language for ABB. I took the lead in updating the web version of the Events Application to align with the new design system. Considering incorporated feedback from the users and updates on the market I’ve added new features to the application.
