What's MOM Desktop Apps?

MOM Desktop apps contain 3 applications.

  1. Batch View, Batch Investigate and Batch Compare
The Batch View, Batch Investigate and Batch Compare applications provide users such as process engineers a fast and easy way to search, view, investigate and compare batch production data generated by 800xA Batch Management. Batch View and Batch Investigate provide data navigation using the flexible search engine or the familiar Procedure Function Chart (PFC). This allows the process engineer to browse their data in the same way as the recipe was executed. Batch Compare will leverage this navigation to build templates and compare data.
  2. Excel Analyze
Microsoft Excel is the tool of choice for many process engineers to work with this process and production data. Microsoft Excel is typically used for creating reports, performing calculations and analyzing process data. The Excel Analyze Application provides tailor-made Microsoft Excel functions to fast and easy access process and production data in a well-known spreadsheet format. It allows users to take full advantage of the Excel calculations and analysis capabilities.
  3. Trends and Events
The ABB Ability™ Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) Trends and Events Application lets users explore and analyze this specific process data. The intelligent search engine ensures fast and easy access to the process data, and the powerful trend and event views support detailed analysis of any combination of process data.

Project & My Role

As a key player in the project, I took on the exciting challenge of rebranding three desktop applications. The snag? The current UI was showing its age, causing a bit of a hassle for users trying to navigate through the apps. So, when ABB released its shiny new design system, the stakeholders gave the green light for rebranding adventure.

My mission? To give a touch of freshness and user-friendliness across all three apps. It wasn’t just about a facelift; it was about making sure each application had the latest design tunes, offering users a seamless and delightful experience. So, I rolled up my sleeves and dove into the rebranding process, ensuring that user-centered design principles were followed and new UI exceeded the latest design standards.
